Default Cam too much for street?

I have bought a cam and I don't know if it will be a little too big or not, tell me what you guys think. I do drive the car about 4-5 times a week, about 60-70 miles a day.

the cam specs are

Intake Exhaust
Lift* .609 .588

Duration @ .50 240 228

LSA 113

*valve lift with 1.7 rockers

Will be running stock rocker arms, 918 comp springs, hardened rods, and probably a head job.

Cam is not too big for the street IMO, but why such a wide reverse split?

I'd go with dual valve springs

I do not know, it was a custom grind and the guy backed out i guess. I think it was for a forced induction set up. It is a comp cam, the local shop has it for 225, the wierd thing is there is another on ebay just like it...they said theirs was a restock. Maybe it was some type of trial run or something....I don't know.

Do you think it will make a good difference over the stock cam even with the reverse split?

Running stock exhaust mans, lid, ported tb, smooth bellow, gran maf, and hpp3.

Just MHO but I think that cam won't do well with stock exhaust manifolds. The exhaust is pretty short compared to the intake and the stock exhaust will just work against it.

this is true, plus run dual springs with that lift, junk the HPP3 and get you something good to tune wiht. unless u get somethig to tune the car better with or get someone else to do it, not it will not be good to drive on every day

I'm also looking at headers, would mac mids & ory be good enough...i am on a budget thanks to ex-wife....never do that again (not soon anyways)....and have about 3-4k. I cracked a piston with n2o, got forged pistons going in, getting heads machined, re-seat the valves, new springs (duals now), hardened push rods, stock rockers, stock bottom end for now. If I have enough left to get LT's i would love em but I really dont think i will. I have kinda watched the Macs go on here for 250-350 for headers and y pipe...I think Im going pick up a set of those. I'm still not sure exactly what all is going to happen but I know somethings going to happen. Got to go faster...thats the goal

Your gonna need a good tunner for that cam and a good flowing exhaust. Just wait till you have enough money for the LT headers. Go with a set of pacesetters for now. They are cheap and better than the mac mid lengths.Thats a wacky cam. Bigger is not always better. Good luck with that one

Just my .02 but why would you go through all the trouble of a cam swap and then put in a less than ideal cam to save $165?

That cam is definately going to want some good exhaust. If you really want to stay with stock manifolds, I'd go with a standard split to help along the exhaust.

I also agree with the above statement.... if you're going to swap cams, its worth the extra couple of $$$ to get what will work best for your set up.

Don't get it just to save money. Wait a little longer and get a traditional split, but not a very wide one, maybe 5 degrees. And you are just fine, better off really, with Comp 918 springs on a cam that size. They can handle more lift than that, they are lighter, and have better harmonic vibrations than dual springs.

I run a E-XR 232/236-595"/600"-110 and Patriot gold duel springs on the street with no problems at all.

When I first saw those cam specs I just went WTF? I would also advise waiting and getting the right cam for you, and this doesn't appear to be it.

Comp 918's are a VERY good spring. They were originally rated higher than they are now, before 921's came out.

only way that cam would be good would be to have an ls1 intake and stock lid and all and on the exhaust side headers and free flowing cats and cat back
