So, I guess LS1's run a lot of slack in the timing chain?

I just installed an LS2 chain on my 99 LS1 3 days ago. The slack was exactly the same as stock, but the LS2 chain was much stronger built.

Cool

I bought a chain dampner GM PART # 88958607,
nice part, expensive for a plastic part but here is what THE BOOK sas to say:

Was originally designed for the production LS1/6 engine but didnīt make the bean counters.
It works very well to minimize the chain activity/movement in high RPM aplicc.

Is that the same slack remover as the C5R piece? If so, that is a nifty little guy. Next time I'm in my motor that far, I'll toss one on. for teh 90 bucks or whatever it is.. it's good insurance. Also acts as a guide to keep the chain feeding onto the sproket correctly front to back too.
