Trying to convince a buddy of mine that there are other things that need to be swapped out...someone help.

Designed for the longer stroke or just stock sized aftermarkets..???

you'll have to do a clean up hone on the block, to do an 383 from a LS1 block it needs to be 3.905, not the 3.898(commonly called 3.9) we currently have. most poeple get forged pistons fitted exactly to that new bore, w/new rings.

you also have to make sure the block is clearenced for the new crank as well. there is a decent amount of machining that goes into a stroker.

With over 1200 posts on Ls1TECH I would think that you knew more about this... What kinda motor is he wanting to build? The only crank you can put in a stock motor is a stock size crank. Yeah it can be forged but its still gotta be stock size. If he wants a stroker or something then he needs to buy a rotating assembly with crank, rods, and pistons..

Or he goes the opposite way with a 6.0 block and an LS1 crank assembly

If you use a longer stroke crank, you will either need a shorter rod, or a piston with shorter compression height, or a combo of both. You can get a rotating assembly that has this figured in from one of the sponsors!
