The iron motown block is about $2000. I doubt WP would sell an aluminum aftermarket block for less than $3500. I think its going to be priced right around where the motownlite blocks are.

If it is aluminum, the bore will be determined by the type of sleeve used. If it is a dry sleeve, I doubt you'll get much bore out of it, but if it is a Darton sleeve, it ought to handle a hefty over bore. Just depends on what they use.

A .060 overbore capable 4.125" standard bore block would be nice. 454ci = 4.185" bore * 4.125" stroke.

SDPC is also evidently talking with GMPP about the possibility of a GMPP "bowtie" Gen III/IV block.

Then there is some rumor about the Aussie's coming out with a big bore Gen III block too.

Life is gonna be good here soon I have a feeling.

I'm kinda scared to think about what a CNC'd aluminum block will cost though.

Hey Guys,

We are in on this through the back door, but cannot say a lot at this point. Just helping them through a representative as we can. It will be a nice piece similar to the C5R block in design and components. Pricing will be in the $3000-3500 area at this point and should be available in the Fall at the earliest. If you look at their Motown lite aluminum blocks they are in the $3500-4000 area price wise. There are several other LSx based components coming also Be patient.

Hey Guys,

A couple more notes I am able to pass on. The oil system is being changed slightly. It will be a dry sleeve setup as well as offering two different deck heights. We are trying to make this capable of going to 500ci. With the taller deck, a new manifold will be available as well as spacers for stock intakes. Extra head bolt holes as needed will be there as well as specific head for that application. The cam journals will be larger allowing more lift with less ratio on a larger base circle and the cams will be readily available for approximately the same pricing as today. Basically it will be able to be a direct bolt in capable of being a full race application.

As I said, be patient and more info will follow. Hope this helps.

No problem guys. Just do not hound me for info as it is still in the works. Pretty much a definite go on everything, just a waiting game. As more info becomes available I will pass it on. Later.

As posted previously:

Hopefully by the end of the year at the latest.

Some of the comments in this thread got me thinking. The small block Chevy has a 4.4" bore spacing, correct? What is the minimum amount of material you need between each cylinder? To me, I believe that 4.125" bore is probably about as much as possible to leave enough material intact between cylinders.

There are aftermarket SBC blocks that can go out to 4.185" and Steve from Race Engine Development was talking about making a MID sleeve setup that could go to 4.2".

Edited due to to misread: So are we talking 5 bolt cylinder heads??

Cool stuff. Thanks for the info. One other thing...provisions for electronics? Are we going to see this piece be able to accept factory knock sensors, cam and crank position sensors and the like?

If the block is under $2K I am going to get one, otherwise not. The 6.0 blocked 402/408 is just fine otherwise

Yup, just under $3k for the block, sleeves, and installation. You know they will have to come out priced very close, but below that number.
