ok I hear alot of talk about different casting LS1 heads..
I got a 98.. what heads do I have?
how much of a difference is there really?
what are the names of all the castings and the differences?
CFM and HP wise?
I know the 98-99 have a larger cam.. so I guess it makes up for it because the heads flow a little less?
explain..

well there have been a few different heads
the 98 heads are differnt from all the other years because the ahve perimeter valve cover bolts and all others have center bolts
then there are 99-00 heads and 01-02 heads not sure on all the casting numbers
the 98 heads also flow the worst stock out of the bunch and the 01-02 heads flow the best
i think there could be 10hp diff between the years because the 01-02s have a smaller cam then 98-00 and make 10 more hp
put some 241s on your car and an ls6 intake you could see like 10-15 hp im sure

They also had a low spot between 5 and 7, and 6 and 8. It caused the head gasket to give out earlly on the 98's. Definitely the worst year for the f body ls1. The computer is the worst of the bunch too.

I have two sets of #241's off 2002 C5's if you're interested. Less than 10K miles on them. $175/set plus shipping from 92020.
BTW...early heads (98)are #806, then they went to the center bolt #853, and the latest are the #241.
