I have heard the MTI S1 cam in a TA. car idled perfect/hard to detect.

Lunati 212/221 116 LSA .510/.510
Crane 210/218 114 LSA .531
Comp 212/218 114 LSA .522/.529
All pretty close - any real difference between these 3? Anyone running one of these?
what about the Z06 cam

That cam is too small for the effort and the price, a 216/220 is larger than the ZO6, and considered more docile by comparison to the larger grinds available. With a zo6 though it is easier to skimp out on valve train upgrades, with that cam you only need springs, and maybe pushrods if you beat on it. Go with a big boy cam

I used to run it on my 99 TA M6, nice cam, back then it was the best "all around " cam. I got 37x/ 35x with full bolt ons.

I'll put in another vote for the Comp 216/220. I just installed this cam, it pulls good from idle to 6500. With just the crane handheld tuner progaming, it idles better than stock and runs so well i can lug it in any gear down to 1100rpms with out any bucking/surging what so ever.

I ran the Comp 216/220 for three years, it is a fantastic all round cam, easy on the valvetrain. Tuning is not necessary, but always helps. You can't go wrong with "old faithful".

Good, because I bought it. along with the springs, titanium retainers, and chromoly pushrods. Those use stock length, correct?
Does the cam have some thump to it? I've never heard it.

Just bringing this thread back to life for any updates and additions to information here. I'm considering getting a new cam and the competition sounds like the old faithful way to go. I too am looking for a good performer. I would like something that can idle well as my goals are the following:

1. Daily driver reliability a must
2. I want increase my 0-60 performance as priority - 1/4 mile would be my second priority.
3. I want it to be able to idle without problems, yet would love the performance choppy sound if possible.
4. I need to pass california smog

I have a stock engine with A4 tranny, 3.73 gears, predator (which I have never been able to tune right, so i leave it with the stock performance tune that came with it), i have an exhaust cutout, whisper lid (with K&N filter & airbox cutout), throttle body bypass, 160 thermostat.

Do I need to change anything like the timing chain and springs or can i leave everything else alone? I have 55,000 miles on the engine.

What can I expect for horsepower increase? How much roughly will that translate to the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times? How much will this cost me for the cam and professional installation including any extras that have to be added to make this installation work?

As for research, yes I have read the cam guide which was very informative and as you can see I am using the search and reading all these articles, this one grabbed my attention. thanks for a cool site and cool techies to keep it rockin!!!

Listen to Patrick....
He's very smart when it comes to combo's...

I was going to run the Z06 but when I sent him the specs on my 214-222 559-566 115+4 he told me to jump on it since I'm running shorty headers...I got it for a very good price $61.00 otherwise I might gone GT2-3 which again is a very stealthy and powerful cam...
