Default Motor Decision question...

I am gonna sell my current '01 Procharged formula, and build up my '87 GTA TA completely.
I have decided on just about every part for the car except the motor....
This is gonna be an Ls1 conversion...I was originally thinking about SLP's 402 with AFR 225's and an Futral F14..and just a plain Ls6 intake.
also gonna be throwing nitrous on top of this.
I want a strong N/A motor and a motor on steriods with the nitrous.
What motor and setup would you recommend for me... I basically want this car to drive with manners around the street...i dont want that full on race car feel. its gotta be somwhat nice...but my biggest concern is some of my buddys out here with there KB Cobra's and 600hp this and that....i want to put all that to a stop....and there is also a 655hp Evo 8 running around that i want to be able to pull...
what setup would you suggest here?
Thanks all... -Chris

Build a nice 408 iron block if you want to be STRONG on the spray. These things can put more than 800hp to the wheels on the bottle when built for it.

Forged 347~3,000 (not a fan of iorn blocks in non race cars)
Ported AFR heads~2500
Misc~1000
Ntrious~1000

So far thats around 7500, im pretty sure if you get the majority of your parts all in one place they could cut you a deal of some sort since your dropping so much money with them.

I'd go larger than an F14, ESPECIALLY if it's in a larger cube motor.

SLP has a aluminum 402 block for $4K..
I had thought about a forged 347 but the problem being that i dont think i will make enough power N/A or on bottle to be able to outrun a few select individuals around my area. Lots and lots of 03-04 Cobra's around with over 500hp....most with over 600...but the two main cars i want to outrun are a forged internal Z06 with heads cam and procharger (644hp) and also a 655hp Evo 8.
The GTA should weight about 3100-3300 (without me 180lbs) pounds when everything is done.
Stock the sucker weighed 3450 with backseats and spare tire and even a 20lbs backpack of mine on a scale....so with all new tubular suspension... and lighter hood and side front fenders and no back seats as well as an aluminum block .... it should be pretty light IMO...
lets get technical guys...breakdown a good setup from your oppinion... Vendors are welcome to chime in as well

I'd also recommend a port matched FAST 90mm intake, especially on a big cube motor. It really makes a diff over the LS6, and if you're gonna spend that much money you might as well do it all right the first time.

You pretty much can't beat the SLP 402 deal that's going on right now. And you can always have em bore it over if need be.

I would get a 502 GM bigblock and throw on a nice DP nitrous kit on it. Then you do not have to worry about harness, mounts and stuff. But it is almost a bolt in.
You'll have to get a 12 bolt for sure and a built TH 400 short tail with a nice ~3200 stall.
That thing will rip a A-hole to many of the contenders mentionned.
It will cost you more than 7>8K either way you go.

Then get a licence plate that says "Ratt TA"

Just to give you an idea:
