Default Where is oil coming from?

Little background - about two months ago - SES flashed showing a misfire on #5. In addition - autotap revealed approximately 100 other codes being thrown ranging from crank position sensor to theft deterrant system to o2 bank codes. More or less it spit out completey random and unassociated codes.

Pulled my lid, MAF, TB while checking for coolant (trouble shooting possible head gasket leak) and found oil sitting in the TB, pooled in the bellows hose between the TB and MAF, inside the MAF and even sprayed on the inside of my lid.

I cleaned it up and took the car into the dealer to have the possible head gasket situation fixed. Ended up (by their diagnosis) being a bad injector over #5 which was stuck at WOT and basically cause a ring in the the cylinder as well as the piston itself to be destroyed (melted). After a month and half - I got the car back (dont ask).

Two days later, the car went whacko again. I swapped out my aftermarket lid and K&N (just to be safe) and for ***** and giggles, cheked the TB and bellows again - only to find oil sitting there again.

Took the car back to the dealer again to have the other issue looked at (ended up being a loose plug wire on #2 - dont know why I didnt check it myself - maybe frustration got the best of me). But while it was in there - I asked them to see where the oil was coming from. Being a dumbass, I did offer up "maybe it is just leftover from the previous issue." But explained to them that it needed to be looked at cause oil being blown back through the intake could coat the MAF and throw the computer into a frenzy.

Got the car back two days later for the plug wire and asked about the oil and was told it was "just leftover oil from the previous incident." Got home, pulled the MAF, bellows and TB and cleaned them up real nice (to remove any old oil). That was Friday night (picked the car up from the dealer Thrusday night). Saturday night, only driving the car 60 miles from when I got it back from the dealer - the SES light came back on.

Scanned it with autotap to see the same thing as before - about 100 random and unassociated codes being thrown.

I am guessing that oil is coating the sensors on the MAF and giving the PCM fits. I am worried that this oil is a sign of a bigger problem but also acknowledge that it is possible that it is old oil which was stuck in the intake that is just now working its way out from the older piston problem.

I have never had an oil consumption problem prior to the ring/piston issue and when that happend we DID check the PVC system and found nothing wrong with it. This ring/piston issue happend with 15,800 miles on the car - car now has 16,100 miles on it.

Can anyone tell me what could be going on? It appears that my dealer my be incompitent or not recognizing a larger problem here - any ideas would be EXTREMELY appreciated.

You are witnessing a man at wits end with this car and I feel its due to the run around the GM has been giving me. ANYTHING would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like PCV is doing its job, but the
job turned out to be a dirty one.

Seems like something changed, to start throwing
oil in quantity. That's likely either extra
blowby (damaged rings / piston) or oil pooling
up top (blocked returns, messed up rocker that
lets the pushrod spray all over, etc.). At least,
I'm guessing that the LS-1 uses wet lifters and
pushrods, like the old SBC.

Have a buddy brake-torque the engine while you
have the PCV hose loose from its front connect,
inlet plugged, and see just how much PCV
gas flow is coming out (right answer = "very
little") and how oily it might be.

I'd go have a look at #5 plug for signs of
oil fouling, and have the valve covers off to
see whether there's anything laying around or
just not right. That's the easy part. Might
try a compression check too, by way of
diagnosis (this would tell about any ring/piston
damage, at least anything gross enough to
make for excess blowby).
