Default How do you remove oil pump.....

without removing the pan? There is a nut on the bottom side of the pickup tobe thats hard to get to and I'm afraid its going to fall into the pan.

The short explanation, since it sounds like you have getting to the oil pump figured out, is that you can loosen/remove the oil pan bolts and drop it down onto the K-member. The LS1howto says there are 8-10 bolts, but there are more than that. There are FOURTEEN bolts to the oil pan. There are five shorter ones (per side) running the perimeter of the pan, two 13 mm drive bolts that run horizontally from the trans into the oil pan, and two long ones (DON'T overtorque these) on the back/bottom of the pan.
