Ls1 Newbie Questions
Ls1 Newbie Questions Not sure really where to post this.. fianlly got my car going (92 GTA with an Ls1) and got the idle half assed tuned so it doesnt stall out on me..
I had a quick race against a 2001 SS, hes got ls6 intake, LT headers, 4.11s.. nittos..
Im running.. a tsp 231/237 cam.. patriot stg 2 heads.. ls6 intake.. 3.42s... and heres the kicker.. stock 02 exhaust manifolds thru a flowmaster 80 series muffler with a bent *** y-pipe...
He took me all the way thru 4th, hard off the line, i just bog off the line up to 4k... I have no WOT tuning done so I dont know what im leavin on the table there.. i thought this setup would be good for alot more.. will tuning make that much difference on the top end? It pulls alright but not what i expected
Also... should i be looking at a set of headers and bigger exhaust?

Wait, why are you bothering to race a car with possibly the worst exhaust setup ever, and no tuning? Just seems silly to me to go through all that work to take a chance (even if it's a very slight one) of blowing a motor or having it cut out during the race, etc.
Quit wasting your time posting, go get your exhaust and get the car tuned. It obviously has to be done, so go do it.

the worst exhaust ever.. thats what i kinda figured.. they just released the Lts for the thirdgen swap and i missed the boat buyin a set... i guess i just expected greatness from the ls1 back to the shed she goes until i can get the necessary fundage.. sucks havin to park a car in july no use tryin to tune it and then get Lt's and doer all over again...
