Estimate on a cam install?

I have read the cam guide and have somewhat an understading. But my question is what would be the estimate for a cam, springs, pushrods and labor?

I would guess with around a $75 to $100 labor rate, $450 to $600. That is billing for 6 hrs.

So you are saying $600 just for labor? what about everything else?

you could just install the cam yourself, i wouldnt, cuz if you screw up its going to cost 2X as much to fix it, and get it reinstalled. but many people say anyone can install it w/ a good manual and right tools... https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/255574-just-installed-cam-springs-tips-hints-info-inside-promised-post.html

shops tend to charge around 450-600, people tend to charge 250-300

I recommend you post a thread up on your local regional forum, and find out who people recommend and who is the cheapest. You can weigh the price and quality with people from that forum's recommendations........

The only other things that will be add on charges are oil change, coolant flush and refill, and possible A/C recharge (some shops will only do it this way but it is not necessary).
Some shops if you purchase there cam and valvetrain components will give a discount on the install. I have seen installs as low as $300.
Lots of variables and the only way to know for sure is to ask some of the sponsors and local shops to you about pricing. I agree with others install it yourself and find some local LS1 owners to help out.
