Amsoil has three levels of Oil. All Synthetics. Either a 7,500 mile oil, a 25,000 mile oil, or a 35,000 mile oil. The 35,000 mile oil is a 0W-30 and is great stuff. You just have to change the filter at 12,000 miles and add however much is in a filter. Which isn't very much on an LS1.

Personally I use a mobil 1 filter M1-206 cuz it is bigger than the "stock" M1-207

Where did you get the Shaeffer oil??..I have not seen that brand in a long time...about 25 years ago they had a synthetic oil that was great..I ran a Pennziol sticker on the car for the $$...but I ran the Shaeffer in the engine..it actually picked up almost a tenth at the drag strip...I was amazed at the time..

When you run a good size cam it makes its HP at higher RMP's so you run a heavy oil to protect the engine when you wind it up like that..ie when you stress it you do your best to protect it...

I really like the Schaeffer's oil. My oil analysis' with their oils have all been exceptional. http://www.schaefferoil.com/ There's a place on the right hand side of the page to find a dealer locator in your area. I usually did the $250 order and got free shipping. Comes out to $2.72 pr qt for some awesome oil.

Amsoil XL 5w30 is what I use, along with an Amsoil SDF32 filter. Change my oil & filter every 6 months or 6k miles, whichever comes first.

If anyone's interested, let me know as I'm a dealer and will give the best price I can for fellow board members.

Maybe that's why my step dad was telling me to use 20w50 in my stock motor. I don't because the owner's manual says specifically not too but let's say I had a big cam with heads and some other goodies...then it would be more reasonable to do that.

I run GC when i can get it. Otherwise its mobil1 0w40, or a (4 qts) 5w30 (2 qts) 15w50 mix.

Is this a poll or survey of some type? The merits of popular oils have been covered here, endlessly.

Mobil 1 5W-30, but I think I might try the 0W-40, if I can find it around here; I'd like something a little heavier in the heat. I run the same thing in my wife's Jimmy. One time when I checked the oil in her car nothing showed on the stick AT ALL! I guess it'd been a while since I'd checked her car. The car was making no noise, and suffered no damage. I changed oil, and have sworn by Mobil 1 ever since.

I used Mobil 10w-30 until 8800 miles. Now I use Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic. My gas mileage went up 2 points. I also use Mobil 1 oil filters.
