Input on Custom Cam Grind, please... I've done a lot of cam research and listened to just about every combination of cams on ls1sounds.com. You can see my mods and rwhp in my sig below. My goal is to up that to 400+ with a cam swap. Yeah, the heads are later... I like the sound of all the big cams like the TRex, G5x3, FM14, etc. I'd like to hit MAX Power a little sooner than 6000 or 6500 rpm, though, and would be willing to trade some horses at the top for bigger torque curve at the bottom. So, I've been playing with some custom cam numbers, but need real world feedback to know if I'm fighting myself, or just plain dumb about it. Here's what I'm thinking about ordering for a grind: 218/232 .6??/.590 112+2. Obviously with the high lifts, I'm thinking about fairly short ramp duration and stock rocker ratio (like the TRex and other TR cams). Will this give what I expect, in terms of top end power, while delivering good low end torque? Will it still sound pretty Lopy with the 112 LSA, even though the IV duration is relatively short compared to the long duration cams with similar lift? Is there any advantage to coosing smaller lifts and adding bigger ratio rockers?

I dont like that cam at all unless you have shitty exhaust.
the split is huge and is bigger then what you need IMO.
If you want something that will make power and peak somewhat early look at the F13 cam.
Also the Cam AFR uses works well.
224/228 581/588 and put it on a 112 to bring your power band down a bit.

The exhaust is Loudmouth behind SLP HF Cats and LTs. So, I probably couldn't breath much better unless I yanked out the cats. Yeah the split is huge, like a CheaTR cam, because I was trying to preserve low end torque. thanks for the input.

Thanks, I thought about the F13 when I was looking at Futral cams, and the Max Power on the graph is right were I want to go. I hope I can get there with my set up. It sounded good on ls1sounds.com.
The car in the dyno does have LS6 heads which will make more power then the LS1 heads you have, however believe me when I say his dyno numbers will be higher in a few months. Countless times have I seen poor dyno numbers CORRECTED in Fla because of the heat. The SAE correction factors in my oponion are BS.
Then many dyno's have inaccurate weather stations and that messes the SAE numbers up a little as well.
your goal is very achieveable with a cam only. I have a few friends with a 224 TR cam making 390+ with every bolton and very good exhaust.
Personially I like the 224/228 cam but thats just me.
