Default Mti c2 cam with some pitting and surface rust

I have a chance to get a mti c2 cam for a $100 dollars. My question is that it has some light pitting and surface rust on some of the lobes. The guy said the cam has around 5k on it. Can you steel wool the rust off? Is there anything you can do to take the pitting off. Will this cam be safe to run in my engine? Once again all of the pitting is light according to the seller. Any info would be great.

Steel wool and you will be fine. I have one customer that glass beads every roller cam he puts in an engine. Says it helps maintain an oil film on the lobe.
