There are only a limited number of things I can say with certainty, one of which is that neither your bone stock Z or any other bone stock LS1 can make anything close to 457/423, not even on an engine dyno at sealevel in the winter.

If it's made in Germany, it's good. If it's made in Germany and the date code is M501 or lower it's GREAT!

ah, thanks for the reply nick. I've been using M1 exclusively, but I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and give castrol a try if i could find it. Hey - i'll try anything once, lol.

yeah, i have to give autozone here some props. i asked a lady about the german stuff and she said "what?". So I said I want the stuff made in germany, not USA. She went to the back room and started taring into all the new boxes until she found some! Not bad.

So this "new" German Castrol 0w30 formula is amber in color, and is/isn't as good as the green? I was thinking of switching to the Castrol next go around, but if what everyone is using is discontinued and the new stuff isn't as good then I'll stick with my Mobil 1 0w40. Patman where are you?

Stick with Mobil1, Royal Purple or one of its chief competitors and save the brain damage.

If you guys want to save some time, I can have some Amsoil shipped to your door, and you can save the gas.

Nice...

I didn't really waste that much gas searching for the GC. I had some other errands to do in same areas as the Autozones I wanted to hit. After I use up the GC I'll probably pick up some more Amsoil.

The new stuff is unproven yet, although I do think it'll most likely show very similar results as the green stuff. I am still glad I've got 79 liters of the green GC just in case though. By the time I'm done with this supply there will be a lot of oil analysis reports out from people using the new stuff, so I'll know if it's worthwhile or not.

I found some syntec at my local autozone that's made in Belgium...M05 was the beginning of the numbers on the bottle. What's the deal on this stuff? I ended up buying regular old 10w40 GTX since it was on sale for about $20/case.
