That's the 5W40 Syntec that's made in Belgium. It should be a good oil, it meets a lot of the euro cars specs, beemers, Mercedes, Porsche, VW... however, I haven't seen anyone analyze it yet...

Hmm, I run m1 5w30, and my car has the exact conditions yours has. It looks like a number of people are running 0w40. Would that be worthwhile?

44 or 48 quarts of the green stuff here (GC 0W-30). Not exactly sure of the count, but, there's a bunch of it.

I'd go with Greek Gator,,,,,, there is a very good likelyhood that the Mobil 1 5-40 Truck & SUV oil is actually Mobil Delvac 1 which is one of the best oils period!!

Delvac is a very very robust oil that is designed for Diesel Engines. The formulation is much different (uses different base oils) that your usual Mobil 1 Car oil.

You could probably go 8k+ miles with this oil and not even break a sweat.

The unicorn of motor oils.

I've got 36 quarts of green GC. And the GC in my oil pan is still pretty fresh.

GC 0w30 is a thick 30 weight. It's almost classified as a 40 weight. Mobil 1 5w30 is on the thin side of a 30 weight, almost 20. This is why I am switching to the GC. It doesn't really cost more plus I've seen lots of really good used oil analysis on it. Plus I think it's cool because it's green.

Bottles that start with M05 on the bottom are GC "gold" pretty much the same thing.

Wow this is an old thread.

So is this green stuff dicontiuned already? And is there a replacement for it sol at autozone's already?
I use 10-40 or 30 Mobil 1 syntehic, would it be worth changing. I need to put in oil since Im changing my oil pan gasket, and willing to try something new. The oil that was last in there was mobil 1 syn. extended performance, I got it on sale and figured I'd give it a try. When I drained the pan the oil was really dark, and I haven't even driven it anywhere near 500 miles or half of that, I ran it about 4-5 times at the track but that's all.

Whether or not M1 is a Group 3 or 4 oil, it's still a good oil for our cars, specifically the weights mentioned before (maybe overpriced, but that's a diff issue). And before anyone accuses me of any M1 nut swinging, yesterday I just bought some Castrol to give a second chance!

I've always used Mobil 1, but I figures I'd give Castrol a chance so I bought some GC yestereday. I'll start the motor later on today to feel it out, $56 for the oil and an m1 filter.

I jus' went out and purchased 5-W30. Mine says it's made in America. Should I be concerned? Plus, my engine's valvetrain makes a lil' more noise than usual. Oil pressure is good @ 38-40 on hot idle with temp at 210. Tried Royal Purple 5-W30 before and thought it was too thin. Thinking of AmsOil next.

Well I found German Castrol at Autozone, but it says European Formula on the front 0w-30. I looked on the bottom and it said M05 and I'm somewhat color blind so I don't know if it's green or not in color. I would guess this is the new formula???
