You're mistaken. Overlap is greater with cams running narrower lobe separation angles.

A 230/230 110LSA cam will have TONS more overlap than a 230/230 116LSA cam. The overlap gives you the lope and rough running at lower rpm.

hmmm, interesting post, I just ordered the Cheatr cam with 918's, hardened pushrods and tit retainers. Dunno what to do now, should I run duals? I asked this question a while back and folks said the 918's are fine with this cam, now I see this post

Ok guys, first a big thanks to team "blueballs" racing who helped me through thick n thin with tracking down my problem. Now for the info you've all be waiting for. PRC platinum dual springs are in and the car revs all the way up to 6600 RPM FLAWLESSLY. Thank frikin god! So, for those considering running the 918 springs with this cam, beware! Who knows, maybe i just had a bad set but anyways, the dual springs i got were the same price if you add the retainers and now i can drive my car and get the top end out of this cam that i have been waiting for!

Dave, please don't feel I was shooting you down. What I'm saying is, in stock, unshimmed form, 918s may not have enough spring pressure to handle the fast ramps of the CheaTR cam...BUT...they will give you more than enough pressure if they're shimmed to within .050" of coil bind.

Stock, unshimmed 918s: Iffy.

Shimmed 918s: Rock & roll.

PRC duals: Goooooood!

Scoobie, so how does the extra rpm feel? Are you feeling the power?

This sounds stupid, but I have a LS6 cam now and like the fact that gas mpg is somewhat retained along with stock idle, just a little boost in power.

Have you had the cam long enough to notice the gas mpg? Any reduction or loss of low end torque? Pulls hard all the way to 6600? I like the power high up but also like the torque lower down. This looks like a great alternative to the 224.

If you guys are considering either cam, wait until after this coming Saturday. My buddy has the TR 224/224 with the same mods as me except i have a Fast 90/90 set up and he has an LS6 intake. Were dynoing this coming Saturday and i will have them overlay the Dyno pulls to show the cams on the same paper.

For what its worth, after my valve train swap i gained 1.5 mph and .2 et tonight on street tires and then CAT3 did a quick tune to lean it out some up top and i gained an additional 2 mph and .2 et

I know this sounds slow, but take in mind i ran on street tires at a shitty track. I went 12.91 @ 113.97 with a 2.213 60 ft.

awesome power down low and entire band. Gas mileage actually seemed to go UP. I got 30.5 mpg averaging 80mph w/ ac on for a 2.5 hr trip. Hit up to 90 mph at times.

Im loving this cam now, put the hi flow verters back on...just a slight chop, no low end loss, pulls smooth all the way up. Not a HUGE power cam, but it does feel really strong.

Very nice! I can't wait to see those dyno numbers. I'm ordering a cam over the winter and right now this puppy is what I'm looking at. You don't have to do emissions testing there do you? A buddy here (Vortech) with a Z06 is throwing this cam in his car shortly and I'm curious to see if he'll pass an e-test. (sniffer)
