Ticky Patriot Heads

I just installed a set of Patriot stage II heads and it sounds like my lifters are ticking. Anybody else have this issue?

My brother-in-law 99 SS, Had the same sound, Nothing to worry about. Kinda takes some getting used to.

Were the heads milled? ...and did you re-use the stock length pushrods?

Heads are out of the box, and I got new pushrods with the heads. The pushrods were sold with thte heads.....can you not use the stock ones?

My valve train is noisy also the springs are twice the size of the stock ones.

It is probably just the typical and normal sounds that everyone gets after a heads/cam swap.. It takes a while for first timers to get used to it because it is a little loud..

my car always ticked like everyone says you just get use to it. i put new lifters in when i put in the cam. i am going to see if it changes any. i never hurt performance wise so i didn't worry about it.

If your pushrods aren't the correct length, ticking can be more pronounced. If the heads are stock mill and you are using the correct length pushrods then you're just hearing the typical "extra" valvetrain noise associated with this type of modification. Ticking is usual with a larger cam, have you replaced the cam as well?
