AFR vs TEA
#161
Cylinder Displacement = ((3.14159*3.898^2)/4) * 3.622
60cc Chamber Vol = 3.6003745
Head Gasket Vol = ((3.14159*3.898^2)/4) * .040
Deck Height Vol = ((3.14159*3.898^2)/4) * .007
Flat top pistons = 0
Figue out what each of those equal...they will be in the proper units of in^3.
Now, SCR=
(Cyl Disp) + (Chamber Vol) + (Gasket Vol) - (Deck Height)
divided by
(Chamber Vol) + (Gasket Vol) - (Deck Height)
See what you get...no calc handy...

I got the car tuned on Friday. I had it tuned 4 months ago by Jeff Creech with all my bolt-ons and a 224/224 570 lift 114 lsa cam.
I just installed the 1.5 TEA 5.3 heads with 10:63.1 with stock GM head gaskets.
All I did was install the heads and nothing else.
Jeff Creech tuned it this Friday
Results: Gained 34 rwhp and 29 rear torq.
Also note I am a A4 with a 3,200 stall
So what do you all think of the Numbers?

Hi all: Just read another independent test in GMHP Tech magazine. They gained 37hp and 31 torque on a near stock 99 corvette with tuning on the AFR 205's. These results were better than the test Vinci performance got because they used a stock head gasket and the heads were unmilled. Just posting this up for information if it wasn't allready done. Bye

vinci gained 39.5 rwhp and 37.3 rwtq on a completely stock vette. not a near stock. on stock tune. more info on the GMHTP article. did they tune it? vinci's test was on stock tune as well. vinci used the mr gasket head gaskets. so, this was when it was being contemplated if mr gaskets were nothing more than victor reinz gaskets. i did my swap at about the same time. i just pulled mine recently. they were the victor reinz packaged in mr gasket. not flaming. just comparing.

Hi: The article was in the new Dec issue. The results were after the car was tuned. They pickup 10hp after tuning so it was 27hp and 24 torque before tuning. I was mistaken about the results Vinci performance got I thought it was 36 Hp. The car in this test only had flowmaster mufflers and varram air intake on it. They used the heads unmilled and a stock MLS gasket so they didn't alter compression. When Vinci ran the test the heads were milled and they used the thinner head gasket if I remember. The Afr heads give you better gas mileage too due to the small port high velocity design. So figure the heads are good for 35-40hp after tuning at least. A guy in the dyno section did over 400hp on a Z06 with the heads and stock exhaust. hope this clarifies things a little. See Ya.

I love this thread I have been trying to decide which heads to match with what cam and I think my eyes are bleeding from all the searches I've done and threads I've read. But the poll here right now is an overwhelming 70% for AFR and 30% for TEA. That right there might just push me towards AFR 205's.
But on a bit off topic. JRP you said in this post;
But your sticky (which I have read a few times and has tons of great info) says;
I went with Pacesetters because I believed what you said in the sticky. My car gets stored in the winter and I'm more concerned with track results then appearances (I don't care if it has a little rust as long as it still produces HP).
Are you now saying I left some horses on the table by not going with Kooks or QTP?
