Default Path of the Oil...

Can someone give me the step of the oil, Pickup tube, oil pump... Then where does it go? I really wanna know where the filter is in the process? Thanks again.

pickup, pump, main galley towards oil filter, filter, up rear of block, lifter galley, mains and top end

You can see the casting of the main oil feed on the left side of the block. From the pump it goes straight back to the filter. The filter is first base. Mains, cam and lifter oil galleys branch off from there.

Yeap, filter first. only makes sence to have a steady supply and adequate pressure while going through it.

Ok I thought GM was dumb, I/m so glad someone chimmed in diffent than above. Thanks for the info.

It's actually

pickup, pump, filter, factory oil cooler(if equipt), lifter galley, cam bearings, mains bearings, rod bearings.

it's all a series path. Each cam bearing/main pair gets feed from the lifter galley.

rockers and springs get fed from the lifters.
