Default new oil pump

just installed a ported ls6 oil pump from slp how long does it take before the pump primes?

If it does not prime within a few seconds stop and take it back apart. Not what you want to here but a lot cheaper than killing a motor.

Whats the best way to get a good prim?........... Deactvate ignition and crank it over?

yeah, you can pull the fuel pump fuse and keep cranking. better to do the fuel pump fuse, so you don't squirt tons of fuel into the engine without burning it up!

They do take forever to prime. If you can remove the oil pressure sender unit out of the back of the block, pour about a quart of oil in there, re-install and start up, it will get instant oil pressure. Once you get pressure, if it is not consistant, or moves up and down, it's the O ring on the pick up tube. It's easy to get it wrong on that O ring.
