Default Main Bolts Breaking while Torquing

Well I am assembling a short block LS1 and the main bolts are breaking and wont torque. I squirted a little oil on threads and am torquing them at 40 first time and when I go to torque them to 62 on the second time they are trying to break. ANY IDEALS?????
All info will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Roy

Sounds like time for a bottom tap, but a main bolt trying to break at 60ft/lb. There is something wrong with that picture.

Sure your torque wrench isn't way out of calibration?

Break or break not... There is no try.

If they seriously are breaking at 60 pounds, you have very bad bolts. Main bolts are TTY, arent they? Which means you should use a new one every time, just like head bolts.
