Default Good cam for a daily driver

I want to put a cam in my car and want some input from some other people. my car is my daily driver and i will also be doing rods springs etc etc. Car is an M6 w/ stock 3.43's out back. I want a cam that will make alot of torque i will eventualy have kooks stainles LT's on the car too. I dont care if i only make 375 hp if im making 450 ft lbs so i want a cam w/ more tq then hp i guess i should say
this is what i had in mind -Futral cam (FM1-F13-112 FMS Custom Grind Camshaft - 230"/232" .595"/.585" 112LSA - aggressive profile with a 2500-6800 RPM range, rough idle
whata u think?

I would like to know too. You have a 3.42 not 3.43.

I would also keep in mind how tight you really want to spin your motor. The bigger you go the more rpms you are gong to need to get everything out of it. Power and reliability/maintenance tend to be an inverse relationship.

i know i wasnt thinking right at the time

ive been told stock manafolds on 01 and 02 cars flow enough for a cam, i know headers would be better tho. What about Tq #s on the f 13 cam?

we have the "S" cam here it is a 238/242 605/610 on 115, it makes great power and daily drivabilty is not an issue. Through a 6 speed stock bottom end we got 422 rwhp cam and Kooks headers and y- pipe. Give us a call 281-448-1300 and speak to one of our sales staff and they be happy to take care of you.

I DD my F13 and LOVE it!! 380tq cam only and after the tune, no bucking.
But i must agree with 02Firehawk#614,
headers man, headers. You will see a big SOTP difference with headers.

It may be pretty hard to make 425 Ft Lbs without making at least as much HP as that, from my dyno runs and others I've seen. Usually rwtq is lower than rwhp. So if you want 450 rwtq from your LS1, you might want to start caring about making 500 rwhp.

You can probably make almost any big cam drivable ('cept maybe the 110 LSAs) with a good tune, and if you keep your stock exhaust, it may still sound pretty stealthy. I want the F13 for my T/A, but I won't expect it to produce 450 rwtq without all my bolt-ons, plus new heads and FAST 90 intake. Even then it might need a 50-100 shot to get over 450 rwtq...

Not one of you answered him!

First, you NEED to do headers first. Your goals are for TQ and headers help there.

Second, you want a cam with a LOW duration! I can't believe the "suggestions" I am seeing here! Your idea of the F13 is no good. 230"/232" is too high. 238/242 is WAAAAY too high.

You're looking for something in the 210-220 duration range. Read Patrick's first post on the second page of THIS thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ht=cam+106+icl

(Oh, and gears would also help your goal.)
