Default lifter boxes

I'm getting ready to change my head gaskets ( because I have one blown) Is there any benefit of drilling a hole in the lifter boxes ? I seen this done on Hot Rod Tv!

Ditto...I cant see how it would hurt, but I've never seen this done besides Horsepower TV...

Yes, it's mentioned in the "How to build a HP LS1 / LS6 book" as well. Basically it improves oil drain-back from the lifters to the oil pan.

it can weaken the tray though. Some people are against it. I am not doing it on my motor
