Default is this worht it for me

hey guys whats up...i have the chance to get some 5.3 heads bare for 150 bucks...maybe a little cheaper....i know i dont have headers yet but my plans are soon to have headers and a x-pipe set up....prob. the TSP set up...but anyways....i was going to get the heads and get 2.00 intake valves put in....and get the chambers cleaned up and some slight head work....my brother knows a guy that does good machine work....im not getting them ported and polished fully...but some work for 250 bucks....i have to buy the valves and whatever else it will need...soo for under 600 bucks would this be a good thing to do??

also will my valves work on this?? i plan to get valves later when i get a cam and do shaft mounted RR's....but this is farther down the road

well i picked them up last nite!!! the heads are complete but i know a couple things that im def. doing and somethings i need some opinions on!!!

1. im putting stainless 1pc. valves in them. thats for sure...but what size should i go? 2.00/1.55 or 2.00/1.575 or 2.02/1.60??? or any other set up.

2. Im getting the bowls cleaned up a little and some port and polish work...very little

3. im wondering would it be ok to mill these heads .030 and still not worry about hitting the pistons with my valves???

Thanks for the input

2.02/1.60 valves should be fine. Milling .030" will bring your compression sky high, but your valves won't hit the pistons unless you run a cam with lots of duration. 2.02 valves are going to require new valve seats for the 5.3s. Make sure your head builder does a good job on the valve job because that's where most of your flow improvements will come from. Also, when adding up the costs, don't forget the costs of bolt, gaskets and fluids. Those nickels and dimes add up to the hundreds pretty quick.
