Question Poll. Amsoil vs. castrol syntec

Although i have heard that both Amsoil 5W40 euro. and german made Castrol Syntec 0W30 (M0501) are great oils and that they help reduce piston slap noise i would like to have a poll on which you prefer. I have a bad case of piston slap and i would like to know what you all think is better for it and its noise.

I quess im asking which is better for protection and noise level on a motor with piston slap

1 = Amsoil
2 = Castrol

I'm really happy with my Amsoil system 2000 0W-30. It's quiet, and consumption is down. I have not run an analysis.

My piston slap was really noticable on cold starts and warm restarts with the GC 0W30. I just switched last weekend to the Amsoil 5W40 and on cold start the piston slap is almost totally gone. It is very slight. On warm restarts it is stil noticable but does not do it as long as the GC did. I would highly recomend switching to the Amsoil 5W40 to quiet the motor, plus it has a higher HTHS of 4.2 which will protect better when you are beeting on her.

i voted castrol, its what i use in my Z.
good things about 5w40 mobil 1. i use it in my HD. changed over from havoline dino oil and there is absolutely no valvetrain noise on startup, or piston slap on my 6.0.
i think i will be using the 5w40 mobil 1 in the car if i cant find the 0w30 castrol.

You can get it from the sponsors. Or just order it off there web site you get the same price. I would go with the 5W40 as i did, but i do get cold winters here. If the car was never going to see cold temps. I would run the 10W40. Also use the longer K&N filter HP2006, it is a better filter and it flows much better than the AC Delco. And run 6 quarts with the longer filter.

If you PM me with your zip code and the quantity you want (6 quarts, 1 case, etc) I can give you a price quote. I'm an independent Amsoil dealer and I give the best price I possibly can for fellow LS1TECH members... price is discounted enough that I can't advertise it openly, so PMs or emails only.
