Help After Cam Install
Help After Cam Install.....
Anyway, got a TSP Magic Stick Cam Swap Package installed a while back, and was throwing a code. Anyway, to make a long story short, sent the computer to TSP for a mail order tune, but was still throwing a code for the check engine light to come on.....
Sent it back to TSP, they sent it back, and Beautiful!!!!!, no more codes!!! BUT......
I go to test drive the car, and right around 3000 RPM"S (sometimes, not all the time)..... the car acts like it has a bad plug, and the car missfires it seems like. Anyone who has had a bad plug knows what i mean. But it is not doing this all the time, just now and then. New plugs and wires were put on the car with the cam install, and it would be throwing some type of code if it were from the plugs.
Someone PLEASE help!!!! Any idea of what this could be? I was told if i had the car dyno-tuned that the problem would go away, but that dosent seem like it would "solve" the problem. Thanks for any help you can provide.

There are lots ( too many to list) of things that will cause cutting out, and misses. It needs to be driven and scanned by a good mechanic.
But like I said inspect your plugs ("lean" is very white, "rich" is sooty brownish black) your car may like the AC's better. Or you may have a bad/cracked plug.
Fuel pump may be going bad.
Damaged crank position sensor.
Low spark voltage etc.

The car idles fine..... and runs good like 75% of the time. But the other 25% is when i could see a miss or something, and usually happens around the 3000x RPM range. Does not happen all the time either, which makes me think less and less that it is a plug. If it were a bad plug or wire, it would be missing all the time wouldnt it? And wouldnt it throw a code???

Sometimes by running car at full throttle will clean your plugs off. Next time car misfires around 3000rpm try a full throttle run and maybe this will clean them. If this helps misfire afterwards try a platinum AC 41-974. Does car misfire at full throttle?

Not sure, didnt want to take it full throttle b/c i was missing, didnt want to damage anythign further. (AND FYI, just had new plugs put on the car with the cam swap)
So, a bad plug will NOT throw a code????

So would it be better to go with these plugs to begin with then? I never read anywhere that it was wise to use a different plug when doing a large cam swap. I really cant imagine it being (Fuel pump may be going bad; Damaged crank position sensor. I really think it has to do something with the plugs, but im just surprised i never read about changing the type of plug when doing a large cam swap. So i guess i should go this route first?
