Piston to Valve Clearance ?

OK I got my new cam installed today (TR cheaTR) and dropped my heads off at the machine shop for a VJ & spring install. The guys at the ms asked me about valve clearance since the cam speced out at .599 lift on the int. and .578 on the exh. I thought clearance was more of an issue on the exh. valve since the piston is chasing it. Also do I need to get new head bolts or can I reuse thr stock ones? What do u guys think?

the intake valve will usually open a bit before TDC on the exhaust stroke to promote scavenging so technically you would need clearance for both...I'm not sure about how much room you have though.

For the headbolt question, definitely get new ones. They are cheap and the old ones are NOT reusable.

Ya I did some research on the headbolt ? and found the same thing, sorry. Also I was reading ashade98's post and he has a similar lift cam and they're telling him he'll be OK. My heads aren't milled but they are gonna resurface em. I installed the cam dot to dot and I'm using stock rockers with 7.4" pushrods, what do yall think?
