My next guess would be the rear main seal, from what Im getting from ya. Clean the oil off when you get a chance, and start her up. Look closely. You may already know to do this, but just trying to help.

why a seal would just give like that after a cam swap for no reason?

Did ya take the gasket off the front of the block that seals the timing cover ifso ya can put it on backwards one side toward the bottom is made different one side is straight and one side has a hump may be blowing out there or the timingcover and pulley may not be put back on good and lined up!Just some guesses!

Did you not connect the thing on the driver side valvecover (Back) or the one on pass side valvecover (the one that goes to the TB).

With either of thoes disconnected you will get a lot of oil

when you replaced the timing cover gasket, did you run a bead of silicone along the bottom?

Not trying to be a smart ***, but clean it up, put some oil in it, jack it up, fire it up, and find the leak.

If you don't see oil on the front of the engine, you can probably rule out the seal. The rear main would not blow from changing a cam, so....from the things/areas you touched and where it's leaking:
Valve covers
Oil sending unit at the back of the intake
Oil filter

As stated above - clean it up, start it up, look for the source.

even if the rear main went i dont see how you woudl have lost so much oil as the rear main is well above the oil level so only drippin oil would be comin out and not very steadily. I would definatly say take a good look at the filter and that area. It is in the area that you say the issue is and you tried to loosen it with out luck. Maybe ya screwed somethign up there.
Too bad i dont live near a place where Spec-V's are fast i could igve ya a hand. GL man

Did you change your valve springs? If so check your valve cover seals. I changed my cam and springs last weekend and when I put the valve covers back on there was some slack on the passenger side in the back so I couldn't see it. Well when I went to do my first oil change after ~100 miles there was oil on the bottom of tranny and oil pan.

- Pinched valve cover seal leaking
- Forgot silicone along bottom of timing cover
- Forgot two bolts on the front of the pan into the bottom of the cover
- Failed front crank seal
- Timing cover seal installed wrong

These are all good thing to double-check. My guess is the valve cover seal.

Default Update...

behind the back passenger valve cover we found a bit of oil, took the cover off and the gasket looked fine and was lined up perfect, maybe it was just old. That seemed a bit weird but oil was coming from nowhere else. I assume when the engines running is when all the oil came out as its getting slung all over the springs and upper valvetrain but theres not much pressure up there so i dont really know. thats the only place i saw a BIT of oil when the motor was off. I ripped a plug wire in half (they were old) accidently in the process so that should give time for the RTV we put on the valve cover and area where it sits to cure overnight till I get my new wires. I hope 4 no more leaking as thats the only place I saw it coming from.

To throw another thought in, if you removed the oil dipstick and didn't get it in the 'hole' correctly, it will spray oil EVERYWHERE. In addition, if the 15mm bolt that holds it on the block is loose, that can cause oil to go everywhere too under driving conditions.

Ask me how I know
