So I put a set of head gaskets on the new heads, never ran the motor, but did tourqe them down all the way. Are these safe to use again????? If not, I gotta get my *** over to the chevy dealer really quick. Thanks for any input.....

What type of head gasket??? MLS? If so, I would use it again. If it is a composite gasket all bets are off, it might work, it might not...

they are stock GM head gaskets.....

 

I concur, MLS yes, composite no way. The comp gasket is meant to seal down when the bolts are torqued. If you are not sure which gasket you have it is very apparent when you pull the heads back off. If there is debris left everywhere its the composite.

no debris anywhere.....and the gaskets are still intact....

 

If you left your block surface CLEAN and the gasket is 100% still intact with no damage I say run it.

I have been in that same situation, did not run the motor, but had to take it apart.
I used new head gaskets. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I think there is something sacred about torqueing the head and crushing the gasket to conform to the head?
I would buy new.

 

I would buy new gaskets also. Its just not worth the trouble. You may have to take it apart again and risk busting another head bolt ot two...

Are you using ARP studs yet?
