5w30 burns like water 0w40 mobil one i use maybe 1/2qt every 3000 unless im racing but high rpm and high rpm decel will always burn more

5W30 dino and no oil consumption issues since I bought the car in May 2004. I never added more than 1/8-1/4 qt between oil changes. I switched to 5W30 semi-synthetic about 2 weeks ago, not sure of the outcome yet. Engine is stock as far as PCV system, no oil catch can, etc.

If you like Mobil1 then 3 qts of 5w-30 and 3 qts of 15w-50 makes for a good mixture that resolves most consumption issues. This is the mixture that XTrooper used to solve oil consumption issues in his car a while back.
Although a few of you describe problems so bad that a viscosity change isn't likely to resolve things.
I also have a car that burns no oil over 8K miles.
