Default Installing forged rods after motor break-in.......

I have installed a set of forged pistons and stock rods into my motor. It’s been driven on for ~1,000 miles right now. Compression checks in great and the engine is running strong. The engine burns no oil and temperature is fine. I’m now thinking that I should have dropped in some forged rods also (couldn’t afford it during the time). I’m planning to pull the motor back out and get some rods for it. The question is, would I have to rehone my cylinder walls?

I'd imagine not, but I think you will need to rebalance the bottom end at least.

What happened that caused you to put in forged pistons. If it wasn't an absolute necassity I'd say you made a terrible decision. Now you are going to have to pay twice as much in labor instead of just waiting till you had the money.

Aren't aftermarket LS1 rods slightly longer than stock, necessitating a different piston?
