Default 408 stroker parts

going to be building a 408 for the truck and have been looking at whats out there to do it and have come down to using eagle crank and rods with je or dimond pistons. how will a setup like this work for something that will maybe see 6500 max more likly to see 6000. and down the road 100 to 200 shot of nitrous. and would it be a good idea to go arp mains or would stock be good, and for sure i'll run arp rod bolts.

go ahead and get arp mains.
what heads will you be running?
heads and the cam selection will determine the rpm you will run.

200 shot will be nothing, just gap the rings properly.
plasmamoly will be fine, no need to go to a hellfire style of ring.

The Eagle rods should come with ARP bolts, most rods do. ARP main studs are a really good idea. I'd also suggest a larger cam. That cam is mild for a 346, small for the 408. The larger cubes "eat" up the the cam a little more. I would suggest something in the 240's with correct split, lift, and LSA for nitrous. I don't know what split and LSA N2O cams like.

ferocity, you think a cam that big would be nice in a heavy *** truck?

Granted 2500rpm should be over 400ft lbs with a mid 24x cam though...

a 240's duration cam would be considered mild in a 408. Like a 224 is in a 346.

I know, but for massive lowend, I'm thinking a very small 240 maybe even a 238/240 might be better.

I am not sure what he is looking for. A low LSA and some advance in the cam should help build a little more low end torque.

He should use a small cam and small headers to build that lowend he is looking for. Bigger is always not better even if your adding cubic inches. Being conservative will pay off. There is people on this forum that have bigger cams at .050 than some pro stock motors.

so i should only need the block and as far as the cam goes what a couple of you guys said is what i'm thinking right now in my 5.3 i have a 210/218 551 lift cam its mild as hell to you guys but for me its just a hair big. so i figured when i went to build this go low and have plenty of bottom end and then when i have money maybe go alittle bigger. but now i was thinking something mid 220s to low 230s with upper 500s lift and low duration on a 110 or 112 lsa.
