blah....tune help?
Right now the car is a 98 z28 (A4) with the following:
Yank 3200 Stall
Rebuilt Trans
226/585/112 Cam
Stage III Ported Polished Milled .030 LS1 Heads
Comp 918 Springs
LS6 Intake
Ported TB
Pacesetter LT with ORY
ASP Pulley
B&M FIPK
Stock 3.42 Gears
Flowmaster 3' Tips
Upgraded Knock Sensors
Motor mounts
Trans mount
Free Mods
Transmission Cooler
But right now its still sitting on the stock tune.....tonight a buddy of mine drove the car against a ws6 with bolt ons that went 12.8.....even though this car was spinning his *** off (cheap-o tires) when it gripped it didnt look like he was catching the ws6.....if it was a good launch who knows what would of happen. My question is how much does a tune help with the mods i help? Theres a mail order tune coming in that we will clean up on the dyno but im just wondering if the stock tune is killing the car that much. TIA

The stock tune is probably holding you back quite a bit. Also, the slowmaster isn't helping things either (assuming you have the catback along with the tips, if just the tips then it's fine). The car should pick up a rediculous amount of power with a tune.

You should look into some new injectors like svo 30's. The mail order tunes are pretty worthless. You really need to dyno tune the car or street log and tune. You would be shocked what a difference a good tune is worth. I do a lot of tuning and going from stock to a good tune is night and day.
