Default Engine making all sorts of clanking noise upon startup.....

wake up this morning, drivers side back tire is flat, so i change it out, and then start the truck up and it makes all sorts of screeching noises, so i'm already assuming its a blown motor. well i turn it off, and then turn it on again to see where exactly the sounds is comin from, turn it off. Wait about 5 minutes, show my neighbor, turn the key and its fine...he said it was probably from the leaning with the flat tire that all the oil in the pan went to one side, so the motor was dry...which sounded plausible to me. anyway, any help on this one? its a 2000 silverado z71, 5.3 liter

thanks

If it had only sat overnight I don't see how the entire engine would be that dry.

dropping 3-6 inches in one corner aint gonna make the pickup tube run out of oil, unless its already super low

I had a weard sound comming from the pass side of the car. it was real loud and sounded like maby I spun a bering, Before I jumped to conclusions and started pulling the motor, I looked around a lot and upon inspection I removed the plate that installed under the starter.. I then noticed that the starter gear was still engauged to the flex plate. each time I started the car it was spinning the starter. replaced the starter and all was fine.
