HPE does excellent work. it should only take you about 15-20 seconds to have it broken in.

I took a 4 day weekend to put my bird back together. one of the best weekends I've ever had

Damn it's beautiful, however how about some details? Like what's been done to the block and what did it cost? I mean, it's meaningless to look a a pretty short block and not know what's been done to it!!!!

Did you use your block or a new one, and what was done to the block and rotating assembly, and HOW MUCH?

well i have almost teh same setup as far as parts except i didnt use callies rods. here is my parts and services with a price its a very fair price:

here is the list of parts and services that wree on my recipt:

hone with tq plates
line hone
set deck with customers pistons
balnce rotating assy.
assy. shortblock( also includes checking bearing clearances and deg. cam all teh works)


eagle 4340 ls1 4.000 crankshaft
4340 ls1 h-beam 6.125(.015 offset) rods
wiseco k394a07 ls1 8cc pistons 3.905 bore 1/16.1/16.3/16 rings 1.115 comp. height
wiseco moly 1/16. 1/16. 3/16 piston rings 3.905 bore
federal mogul 152M 3/4 groove main bearings for ls1
clevite CB 663 H rod bearings for 2.100 sbc chamfered race bearings
cam bearings FM 1888M for ls1
ARP bolts
rollmaster ls1 double roller timing chain


with texas state sales tax of $183.15 the total came out to $3,328.15

Hone block up to .010 with appropriate Torque Plates
Line Hone Main Bores
Set Deck W/ Customer's Pistons
Balance Rotating Assembly
Assemble Engine Short Block
Core Block
