SEARCH. It's worth the five minute wait, and you aren't searching properly if you get that many results.

READ THE CAM GUIDE STICKY. For one, you are asking the question in a seriously wrong way. Forum being flooded with posts like this is part of why I don't get on much anymore. You are going to have to do some research for yourself.

You could always just grag a TR224 on a 114. As jrp says in the sticky cam guide, if you are a lazy **** and don't want to do the research just get that. It's a great all around cam.

 

go to MTI and check out there C2 cam a guy on here said it produced him 378 horsepower with just a lid and catback system. its the cam that i am gonna get and it was his daily driver as well.

Ok, fine.

Then at least ask a SPECIFIC question. One that we can answer.

"Which cam should I get?"

Is a terrible question because there are endless answers.

What are you power goals? Is it a daily driver, or a race car?

Do you plan on doing heads or other mods later?

Do you care about low end torque or high end power more? Are you willing to sacrifice one for the other?

Do you want a smooth, or chopply idle?

Without answers to THESE questions, we cannot answer your question.

 

a good nitrous cam, for a dailey driver, not planning on heads, smooth idle!

 

Smooth idle will be a 114 lsa. Don't go lower. Possibly a 115 or 116 if you want an idle just like stock.

Nitrous cam, I don't know anything about. But that'll at least get you started.

A refreshing way of asking about cams would be to say, "I'm looking for a cam that performs best between xxxx rpm to yyyy rpm." Understand that cams are give and take. The more power you get up top comes at the expense of low-end loss. There are cams that can increase the entire powerband but the peak power gains are not huge in any one place. Yes, there are cams that can boost lowend at the expense of top end. The cam in my sig is a good example of the later.

 

Have you read the cam guide sticky?

Example: HPE S cam (ground on 115) will idle a lot different than a TR220 on a 114, or even 112. The LSA is only one of the factors that determines overlap, which is mostly what determines idle quality.

I was going by KISS rules (keep it simple, stupid).

He's obviously not looking for long explanations, but rather simple answers. "Which cam should I get?"

"This one.....(insert cam suggestions here) "

He wants a smooth idle, he'll need to stick with a higher LSA.

 

I can see where you are coming from, but a blanket "high lsa" recommendation just isn't enough information.

shaneV8: Don't worry about it being a good nitrous cam. As a daily driver get what fits your use 99.9% of the time. Besides, until you get into the larger shots (say 200+) just about any cam will handle the bottle adequately.

Just grab a TR224 on a 114 and call it good. Otherwise, get out and do a bunch of research for yourself.
