Oil pump pick up tube?
Oil pump pick up tube? Why won't my oil pan drop any lower? I have all the bolts loose with plenty of room for the pan to drop 1/2", but it will only come down like 1/8" WTF

I've seen this before, and I'm at a loss.. So is it safe to assume the F-body oil pan is significantly different from the Y-body to create this issue? I tell you, I had more than enough room (and I don't have small fingers) to remove and re-insert the bolt.. Simply not an issue (no, didn't touch the oil pan bolts at all).

It was the tranny Bell housing bolts. Pick up tube was still a bitch to get on. But the oil pump and Timming Chain are done and 3 of the pistons valve springs.

you dont have to remove the timing chain when you install a new oil pump do you?? b/c on the ls1howto.com it looked like he was just changing the cam while he was down there, i just want to get my new LS6 oil pump in and not have to worry about oil pressure drops anymore. also how much would a shop charge to put a new pump on??
I was doing a cam swap. you do not need to remove the timming chain to change the oil pump, but you do have to remove the oil pump to replace the Timming gear on the bottom.
