if the rocker adjustments are ok, it looks like you might have a bad lifter. but before doing anything, just run the engine for about 30 min. it might correct itself.

alright. we looked at it and think its coming from the front of the engine. i crunk it up with and without the belt and still does it. might tear back into it tonight. one of the techs thinks its something behind the cover

what kind of rockers? if aftermarket, could be them hitting the covers.

What does the noise sound like? How's the oil pressure? Did you tighten the cam plate bolts? Did you mix up any bolts, like cam sprocket bolts? Did you center the timing cover?

sounds kinda like a knock or grinding noise. everything is tight i went over it 3 times. the bolts for the timing chain and cam retainer are the same. i put the crank pulley on then tightened the timing cover

took the timing cover off just a sec ago and everything looks fine. is there suppose to be kinda tight clearances between the bolt for the cam retainer and the timing gear? there not touching just close. it all is tight though
