4th gen= 93-02
they are divided by early (93-97) and late (98-02)

it will work but there are a lot of modifications that need to be make.

If you are goiing to be putting in a ls1 buy a v6 and then then transplant it. cheaper when you buy it. you will have to do some modification to make it fit.

With enough money, time, and vision, ANYTHING is possible....take a look at the Hybrid forum.

675 HP ? Is this going to FI, turbo, etc...??

seeing as how ive had the pleasure to this before on a 95 3.4 v6/t5 piece of cr...it takes patience, but it can be done. however the intention of the car was to be a strip /wekend street race car which was carburated with the edelbrock setupwith a 700r4 tranny, i used stock cast iron ls1 motor mounts, but i had to machine them for different bolt holes as they do not match up on the v6 pattern.i believe the lt1 bolt pattern on a stock k-member should be easier to adapt since td performance now carries various versions of sbc to ls1 swaps thi assuming the car is an lt1 version. or you could just pick up somebodys used ls1 k-member or use a tubular k-memeber. its really more of a budget thing.anyways the conversion 1 built currently runs in th low 10's which is a 375ci 6.0 motor. just my $0.02 on the subject .this area just really only covers the motor adapting part seeing as how you still need to adress the wiring, tranny, rear end ,ignition, stand alone if your using efi, etc.

If you must have the older body stye and an LS motor, then start with a base model as mentioned before. Take that ****** completely apart and build from the ground up with a nice 9" rear end or Dano 60 would be even better. Change the suspension and chassis upgrades all the way around and make everything top of the line for weight loss and strength. Then stick in a stroker LS motor that is running an ATI procharger, with nitrous on top of that. If you plan to play more on the street, then an M6 is the way to go. If you plan to race it, the A4 is the route I'd take.

Just trying to slap in amotor and not pay attention to the rest of the platform is a waste of time, effort, and just ridiculous in my book. Build it once, build it right.

Design it first before you spend a cent, design what you going to use and install and how compatible one system is to another, everything from brakes to tires, to a arms, to etc..etc...

Thats what I would do.

why not just find an ls1 car and put the 93-97 front end on it?

I've went this route years back with a mustang, 2.3 to 5.0 swap. Don't even attempt any swap without a proper donor car, learned that the hard way. When everything was done I was happy felt great etc.. But in reality I should have just got another 5.0.
Anything is possible as stated above, but do you have the time and patience? How are your neighbors? Are they gonna raise hell with a bunch of wreaked, stripped down cars? My place looked like a damn junkyard Don't get me wrong it's fun, you just need space to work, tools, money and time. Don't end up like me with a few "works in progress"

you will also have to do something about your tranny. not only will it not hold that much power, but an LT1 tranny will not work with an LS_ style engine.

Forget the LSx motor.
Get a V8 3rd GEN (82>92), since I think that is what you're talking about.
Then put in a 572 CID 620 hp big rat block (straight from Chevy as crate motor).
Easy swap (I've put in a 454 in a 85 IROC before).
