Default Patriot Gold Spring Installed Height ???

I am looking at some other valve springs. Patriot advertises their installed height seat load at 1.8 inches. I want to find out what their typical installed height is if anyone has it. I also need the thickness of the bottom seat if anyone has that as well. Running some quick load calcs.

I set mine at 1.740, I can't remember for sure but I think the seat was .040, that made 155lbs closed pressure incase you need that too.

I was wondering the same thing ... figured it'd be a set height unless you change the height of the spring seat.

If you just install, they will come out at a preset height based on the tolerances of the head/valve, etc. I am trying to figure out what the seat thickness and retainer set the height to calculate seat and open pressures. Doesn't appear that too many have used a micrometer to measure during installation.

Vettenuts, I reinstalled new set of PP golds on a set of #2031 heads I recently sold to a member and found them to be 1.80 on average. These heads had about 2500 miles on them. At this height, seat pressure was 133 #.

Thanks, sounds like the retainer and seat is thinner than the Crane setup so it installs at 1.8.

I just went through that drill!

Here is the info I came up with.

These springs are the Patriot Gold with about 3,000 mile on then.

Seats are .055

Stock install height is 1.800 on average on my 99 LS1 853 stock heads
Seat pressure 125psi
@.600 lift 360psi

If you shim .050 to install height of 1.750, here are the numbers
Seat pressure 145psi
@.060 lift 380psi

I plan on shimming to 1.750 to 1.740

Unfortunately, I didn't measure my Cranes, but Mark Campbell has stated they come in at around 1.76 or so (don't remember the number, but it was less than 1.8 and the seat load was around 125#). If the Patriots are coming in at 1.8 then the titanium retainer must be placing the top of the spring higher as the seat on the Cranes is 0.050.

I thought the Patriots were 135 at 1.800.

Thanks for the information, I am trying to assemble a spreadsheet on several valve spring setups.
