Question cant find the threads using search..engine rebuild

Okay, I know a few guys posted in the past on a cheap route they took on rebuilding their engines...keeping the stock pistons, rings, rods and crank and replacing the bearings and all the bolts with apr and so seals i think..does anyone know what im talking about or have a link? im trying to find out how much it would cost to do it. Basically just upgrading the stock block for a bit more insurance but less than a forged one. Also, if any sponsors can give me an idea on pricing to include pulling the engine and also if the engine is already pulled along with the previosly mentioned parts.

If it were me, id go with forged 3.905 pistons, stock rods, stock crank, new rings and bearings, katech rod bolts, but OEM bolts everywhere else. Could probably be done for ~1000 in parts, plus machining costs (3.905 bore).

I feel you'd be doning yourself a disservice by not going with forged pistons, while the rest of the parts are pretty stout in stock form. The forged pistons will be more resiliant against detonation, accidental lean conditions, and will handle juice i you wanted to spray.
