Recently i have been hearing some knocking in my engine on the curbside near the firewall. Sounds like its comming from the head. I was thinking maybe it was a lifter? Also my exhust is backfiring when my rpms lower from high (i.e. as in shifting). it seems the performance has gone down any either, i just dont really want to get up on it you know.

I need your opinion guys, i havent been driving it and i would like to get a general idea what could be the cause.

Pull the valve cover at least and lets take a look at whats going on, see anything out of ordinary in there?

Stock cam & springs? Wonder if you bent a push rod.
