You have $10,000 to spend on a longblock... Who do you have build it??...and it is going into a 2001 Corvette for road racing only.
What displacement, heads, internals, etc.
402 LS2 stroker ???

call around and see what people will do for ya. do you want to go FI or or N/A. either way I would reccomend one of the sponsors on the right as most of them specialize in ls1 or ls2's.
I'm sure you could get a 402 LS2 longblock with some AFR 225's for well under 10k. It's a proven 525 rwhp+ combo depending on cam choice. I'd contact HPE. They gave me a good deal when I bought everything through them.

Road racing engine for 10k? I would go with a 402 LS2 with a nice heads and cam setup. You could get it done for 10k or less since you're installing it yourself. There are so many good brands of heads out there. If I had to chose I would go with either ET performance or AFR's. I can't tell you what cam to go with because I'm not sure on your final setup. But since you are roadracing the car I would guess something that makes great power throughout the rev range (duh right?) I would look into A&A corvette if I was in your shoes.
I had the equipment I'd buy all the pieces and assemble it myself so I could make sure that all my clearances are as I want them to be. I'd build the largest possible ls1 with an aluminum block 402 or bigger depending on what is out there (haven't looked as I could only dream of building such an engine). get the best flowing heads I could find and a nice size cam to match it.
