Default In Need of H/C Advice

Hello all,
I've posted a few other questions before and I'm still learning lots. I'm considering a H/C buildup on my 01 automatic SS. I'm thinking of MTI St1 and B1 cam. I was wondering the difference between St1 and St2 as far as performance v. dollar. Goods? Bads? I do have a budget and am wanting opinions on wether St2 heads are needed. I'm not going for MAXIMUM horespower. I just want SOME more, ha. Reliability is a big concern as well. Any opinions and advice on this setup would be much appriciated. Thanks for your time.

Hard to give advice when you haven't posted MTI's prices for their S1 & S2 heads.

I'm a big fan of Absolute's Stage 1x heads --- hard to beat their price. They flow 290+, & should be good for high 11's w/ a B1 cam.

There is an 800 dollar difference between their stage 1 and stage 2 heads. TTT

Sooner or later you will want to do some S2 heads so be true to yourself now and go for it.

MTI is a good producer of heads/cam packages but so are a lot other sponsers if the price is your deciding factor.

any more comments........and the only reason why i don't want to buy st2's now is because i'm in college and have lots of time later in life (when i have more money) to do things like that..... right now i just want to keep up with the competition plus more.

They install bronze valve guides, 2.055" 1.60" Valves. They might also do a little more porting on the stage 2 heads. The best thing to do is call them and ask them what else they do to the heads.

Why not just get some TEA Stage 2 5.3L heads? Since they are CNC'ed you know exactly what you are getting, and about all stage II heads flow the same 295-300cfm.

Check out the classifieds, Ive got a heads/cam for sale loaded and ready to ship for less than you can buy heads for. No core required with me either.

Screw price dude. I know you're in college, but it is worth a few weekend partying sacrifices

Reliability: yes.

Hold on $800 difference....... That's one dam good term for me in school. I was on the $20 a night budget, so during 10 weeks I could part 4 times a week! (more if your buddy was a bartender!) Dam I miss those days!

Anyways. TEA is having a GP on Stage 1.5 (pretty dam good heads, just as good as 2's) for $1500! Go get on that and forget about this.

If you dont wana go with stage 2's or atleast the 1.5 heads. Just get a cam and leave it at that.
