Default What am I going to need ?

I'm going to be pulling my heads, cleaning them up a little and having them milled and fly-cutting. Am I going to be needing new head bolts ? Or will I be able to use my old ones ? Also, If I'm looking for 10.8:1-11.0:1 compression(stock compression right now) How much would be a good choice to mill ? What kind of gasket ? Thanks for the help

Also, will the extra compression make drive-ability even better and increase gas milage(as long as i keep my foot out of it ) ?

You need new head bolts, MLS GM gaskets '02 up version are what I suggest.

Get ARP studs. Then when you pull the heads off next time 'cause your milled heads are subpar to the heads on the market now, you can reuse them and put that money toward something else.

And watch out for that temperature sensor....

Probably shorter pushrods like 7.350 ....also depends on the cam base circle.

Yes, ARP bolts or ARP studs

No stockers are torque to stretch bolts

You should run a tighter quench and since you are flycutting, a thinner gasket will not be a problem. I recommend Cometic MLS 0.045 .
To determine how much you should mill, you have to know how much you're going to flycut in CC's.

I would keep the mill to a minimum, in order to keep maximum flow of the head.

BTW, you can send your heads to TEA and get a stage 1 port job for a really good price, if your heads allready have springs and such.
No more than $800 or so.
Stage 1 is a porting job with stock sized valves.

I'm looking for optimal power through-out the entire power band seeing as how I know my cam is bleeding off compression. So what do I need to do to calculate how much I should fly cut for milling purposes.

I also figured since I have the heads off, port them. Since you suggested the stage 1 port from TEA, that works for me. Thanks for your help.
