Default Installing Patriot Golds, Need a Sanity Check

I'm in the process of installing the PP Gold spring kit. My existing valve base/seals were the OEM 1 piece design. I yank them out, and install the new base and valve seal and I'm not sure it's right. Should the seal make contact with the base to keep in place? If anyone has a picture of an install, please post it or send me a PM.

I can't remember off the top of my head if my PRC's had that space or not, but I do remember that to install the seals I took a deep socket small enough so just the valve could fit into it, and lightly hammered it down until the seals were fully seated (kind of hard to describe verbally).

EDIT: from ls1howto.com:

Before you install the seal, smear some motor oil onto the valve stem and onto the black valve guide. Place the seal onto the top of the valve guide, take a deep 12 point 10mm or 12mm socket and put it over the valve so that it's up against the valve seal, and tap it with a hammer until it seats solidly. There will be a gap between the seal and the seat, that is okay!

Hope this helps!

The seals don't hold the base cups down, the springs do that.

exactly what i was gonna post.
i used a 3/8 drive 3/8 deep socket from craftsman if it matters.
spray some WD40 on them so they slide on a lil easy for you.
you will feel something similar to a clickish pop like a plug wire going on correctly, just not as strong.
very hard to tell you, but i hope that helps.
good luck!
