Default Boring or honing a 98-99 block?

I have been told that u can't bore these at all, and I have read that you can, but not more than .005-.010. Just wanna clarify. I am kinda new the ls1 stuff (been an lt1 guy forever), and I wanna try something new next year. Just looking for some ups and downs for these blocks, and the 00+ blocks.

I have a block that a macnine shop messed up and having new motor built, but it was to be 3.905 but was honed to 3.908 and was told that they didn't recommend using the block now. I am also starting to research what is safe honing. Will let you know what i find out in my search also. Good luck

Pretty sure that 3.905 is about the biggest off the shelf piston you can get so that's what I'd stick with. Usually they are honed to get to 3.905. I think it's pretty much the same deal for all year blocks.

I had my block honed to 3.905 to fit my JE Pistons. Car now has 30,000 miles and still running strong.

98 models coult not be bore any more than like .005 or something like that wich was basically a clean up honed, becasue of the walls being to thin. This was corrected after 99 or 2000. so if u have a 98 model might as well re sleeve the ****** casue u aint boring it thats for sure.

I just had mine bored/honed with torque plates in place and a set of Mahle pisotns. Just got it out of the shop, but, it's got 250 miles on it and everything seems to be great.

Alot of us went to 3.905 without issues....but im not saying other people didnt...just heard you werent supposed to go that big.

i went 3.905 on my 98 block and have about 12000 miles on mine and its been hit with a 175 shot of dry nitrous, then 12 psi of boost and now its back to a 250 dry shot of nitrous and its still together.
