Default Normal Oil pressure?

Car is 23 p.s.i. @ hot idle & 37 p.s.i. @ 3000 RPM. Don't know WOT pressure because I just installed a real pressure gauge. Gauge in donor car is only pressure/no pressure type. Haven't had any problems with the motor. How low is too low?

That sounds a little on the low side. 40-45 at idle is common, factory minimum is 6psi at 1000 if you can believe that.

I have seen that many people are getting 40-45 @ idle. That's what had worried me until I found a post here where others had 25 p.s.i. @ idle. One of the threads was from a guy whom builds motors who said that it wasn't uncommon for him to see a new oil pump in a new motor make 20-25 p.s.i. properly installed. Commented that less than 20 p.s.i. would be something to look into.

Edit correction: The thread actually says 15 p.s.i. could be an issue. Does not say less than 20 p.s.i..

Also, I checked it against my 2004 Buick as a reference. It makes 24 p.s.i. @ idle. Am gonna keep an eye on the oil pressure to be sure. Other good news is that pressure does build with RPM's.

I usually see between 25-30psi hot idle in the summer months. That's an in gear idle speed of 550rpm on a stock pump. PSI goes up a tad when shifted into Park/Neutral as the idle raises to 650rpm.

My WS6 never dropped below 38-40psi at hot idle even in high temps, but that car had an aftermarket/modded (ARE) pump, plus a raised idle speed of 800rpm.

I just drive my 50k mile TA 300 miles and the pressure was a consistent 40psi at 2250 RPM. Haven't checked it out at idle yet. Its still new (to me.)

I have a friend with a 98 daily driver with just under 100,000 miles on it. He has 16 PSI @ idle and 30 wot. The car is completly stock and he beats the cr-- out of it since he bought it new. Don't worry to much about it.
