Your numbers sound on the high side to me.

I’m putting in a cam right after Christmas. I am doing the installation myself and the tune will be $350 (I think) plus dyno time. I am having the tune done by Performance Specialties in Glen Burnie which, according to Map Quest, is only one hour and 2 minutes from Annendale. If I was going to pay someone else do the install, he’s definitely the guy for that too. His name is Jeff and he has a reputation for doing things right. His number is 410-766-7PSI. Or, email him at jeff@performance-specialties.com.

Hey Justin,

Where are you in VA? Check out F-Body Central:

http://www.fbodycentral.com/html/main.html

I'm in Herndon, and I'm getting ready to have my 4.10's put in there, but I've talked to them about doing a lot more stuff for me too. They're on the south side of Baltimore right off 695, less than an hour from me. Log on to the Eastern F-Body Forum:

http://www.fbodycentral.com/forum/index.php?s=

and go to "Ask Jason". Just post a message about what you want to do, and Jason will reply/pm back. You can ask him about pricing and options.

Chris

Ive been going to F-body Central ever since I got my car. Those guys are great. I feel they are very fair on their prices and they do good quality work. I plan on taking my car to them until its an 11 sec car. F-body central can handle anything, they also have a guy who tunes the cars and for $350 I think it is they offer unlimited tuning. They have tuned my car probably 3 times so far and its only cost me $350.

IMO if you are really going to be putting that much $ into your LS1 (2-3k for a cam??) you may as well pull the whole thing and build something new...that money can almost get you a new engine block.

And what do you wind up with?? A block that STILL needs a cam, valvesprings, timing chain and all the other **** that goes along with doing a cam install.

Yes, but if you put it together yourself, you see my point. Modding everything seperately and paying labor each time will kill you and for some people a whole new engine build would have been around the same price, yet they still have their LS1 with however many miles on the bottom end instead.

Damn, just put the thing in yourself. I could not justify spending 2 grand for a cam swap.

Justin, Ask Jason for a pkg price... probably be in the $1300 rang for the works including cam, springs and install, but don't hold him to that... And I'm not sure about the tuning. 'couse $350 for unlimited sounds way cool, I didn't know they offered that. It's a deal for me, since I have several mods coming up that I'd like to know the hp & tq change for.
